Claudia Doring-Baez, paints expressionist portraits of people that "dare" to sit for her. The painting "happens" in 45 minutes. She describes her process as painting “without thinking.” She explains, “I practice first-intention-mark-making, where idea and technique merge: the brushstroke creates the form effortlessly, organically. She graduated from the New York Studio School in May 2012 earning an M.F.A. One of her works, Untitled Film Still #7, was featured in the February 2012 issue of ARTnews magazine. Baez lives and works in New York City.
